Floradora Girl

Blame Floradora - her name popped up while I was making this dress and I started thinking of the Floradora Girls and this is the result and a freebie for you Floradora with thanks for your inspiration :)

The most popular all Girl groups of the time was the English Girls later nicknamed the "Floradora Girls" who performed the leggy, risqué dances popular during the time in the show entitled "Floradora" which opened in London on November 11, 1899, and later came to America in 1900 from the London Operetta. These leggy dancers became a chorus type dance
group like the Goldwyn Girls, Tiller Girls, Goldiggers, Ziegfeld Girls etc. and a musical stock company of female dancers like the Golddiggers etc. who appeared in many musicals such as Ziegfelds productions.

-- Many of these ladies would later dance as Goldwyn Girls, Ziegfeld Girls and others as well as other musicals and movies in the 1900s-1940s. They were sometimes listed as "Models," "Showgirls" or "Chorus Girls." Most of the Girls would dance in the show, marry one of the Rich Patrons and quit the show which over time produced over 70 Floradora dancers.

The New LEMANIA INDIGO DESIGNS BOUTIQUE

The new Lemania Indigo Designs Boutique will be located in the center of the sim in a deserted market place ala steam punk. The designs for the boutique will be colorful, creative and maybe a little strange but the good thing is all will be priced at 100L. This is the first entry into the Boutique - Carnival. A colorful magic dancing outfit with jewelry, stockings and flexi skirt all in this lovely color - it was such fun to make thats why I decided to create a Boutique style - :)

Who Loves Ya Baby!

I need to get on my soapbox for a minute and explain something to people who have no conception what being blind means. If you are blind it does not mean you are mentally challenged, it does not mean you are not a normal person with normal feelings. It only means there are SOME things you cannot do but hundreds of things you can do. Even in this day and age there are still barriers that exist for people with disabilities - before you become one of those roadblocks - stop and think. Instead, be a helping hand and help them over that barrier. And for all of you that struggle daily with societies expectations - WHO LOVES YA BABY! - I do!

Furture Warrior

One of my favorite fans gave me an idea and I will admit when I was working with this outfit it started out as a Motown dress and then took a wrong turn but stayed in the same 60's era. May - your comments about Barbarella had me go looking at pictures and Jane Fonda and it just so happened that the texture I was working with was silver sequins - very small. Well - this is the result - 1960's FurtureWarrior ala Jane Fonda in Barbarella. Thank you May for your sweet comments and thought provoking ideas - look for this one coming your way as my thanks! Meet Truely Bravin

Truely Bravin is the reason I do a lot of things :) she is my RL daughter and she is the reason I am so happy to be able to help raise funds for Bugles Across America - http://www.buglesacrossamerica.org/. Second Life unfortunately is not very accessible to her but on July 27th she will hopefully be here in SL to play Taps for you with Ridha Cooljoke. We will announce soon but plan to have a benefit - Music Gives For Music. I hope this will be the start of a great partnership with Second Life and the wonderful people I have met along the way in my journey in Second Life. Thank you all.

My journey was terrible. I did not arrive here until four o'clock yesterday morning. For lack of horses, the post-coach chose another route, but what a terrible road it was! At the last stage but one I was warned against traveling at night. They cautioned me about a forest, but that only spurred me on. I was wrong: the coach broke down because of the terrible road, unmetaled, a mere country road. Without such postilions as I had, I should have been left stranded. Esterhazy, traveling hither by the usual road, met the same fate with eight horses as I with four. Even so, I found some satisfaction in it as I always do when I successfully surmount difficulties.
Now a quick change to things internal from things external. We shall soon see each other again, I am sure, and today I cannot tell you the thoughts about my own life that I have had during these few days. If our hearts were always close together I would surely have no such thoughts. My heart is filled with many things to tell you -- ah, there are moments when I find that speech is futile indeed.
Be of good spirits; remain my true, my only treasure, my all as I am yours. The rest the gods must send us, that which must and shall be for us.

So there was this friend who just "mentioned" she would like a sailor suit and I thought - no problem. OMG this was a hard one - mostly because of the textures. Then the skirt gave me a hard time. But - all in all it turned out so cute and you can see the satiny texture that I used. Anyway for 2 days only through July 5th (when I wake up and get in-world) I will be offering it as another 4th of July gift for my buddies - maybe I should charge the nameless friend 1000L hmmm?

Digital Media Festival at Madonna University Features Filmmaking, Concerts and Events
LIVONIA, Mich. – Hollywood comes to Motown again this summer. The second annual Project Accessible Hollywood (PAH-fest) Motown will take place on the campus of Madonna University on July 14-20. The unique, entirely free, digital media festival travels to cities throughout the U.S. and internationally, giving anyone and everyone an opportunity to take part in movie making. Metro-Detroiters from all walks of life will have access to digital equipment and professional coaching, enabling them to create their own short digital films. PAH-fest is the brainchild of Christopher Coppola, nephew of director Francis Ford Coppola and brother to actor Nicholas Cage. Coppola plans to be on campus again this year.
PAHfest will also be invading the virtual world, incorporating the chat realm “Second Life” into the mix. People from around the globe can now experience PAH like never before, interacting in the virtual world “Detroit Life”. In 2006, Loudbaby launched the city of Detroit within the virtual world of “Second Life”, aptly called "Detroit Life : The Motor City inside The Metaverse." Since the debut of Detroit Life last year, Loudbaby has quickly established itself as a world leader in the production of Mixed Reality Events.
An exciting new addition to PAH-fest this year is a high-tech lunchtime concert Wednesday, July 16, from 12-2 p.m. World-famous European musician, Ridha (Cooljoke) Ibrahim, will perform from his studio in Italy and perform in the world of Detroit Life in Second Life. Madonna will be streaming video of his avatar for this 3D virtual concert. Computers in at Madonna’s Livonia campus will host PAH Disco where online-concert-goers can dance as avatars while enjoying a pizza lunch provided by the University.
The fashion world of Second Life will not go unnoticed as Virtual Clothing Designer Lemania Indigo features a series of clothing made just for PAHfest featuring the “Motown Sound.” She is turning the proceeds of this clothing line back to the PAHfest MOTOWN organizers to help offset the cost of the festival. “Creativity has been a huge part of my life and PAHfest allows other people to express their thoughts, ideas, and feelings all over the world giving them a voice. I am very proud to be part of such a wonderful idea and event,” said Indigo.
